Obituary For John Curtis Hopkins June 13, 1931 - April 26, 2022 John Curtis Hopkins, 90, of Roanoke, VA (formerly of Eden, NC), passed on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Brookdale of Salem, VA. A memorial service will be held 2pm Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, NC with Military Honors on the front lawn following the service. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, from 1-2pm. John was born June 13, 1931, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late John Raymond Hopkins and Edna Agnes Dodson Hopkins. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean War. John was a former member of Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church, until his move to Roanoke. He worked as a telephone equipment installer for AT&T, formerly Western Electric, until his retirement. John served as Hunter Safety Instructor for the state for over 25 years. He also served for many years as Assistant Scout Master. John was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending his time fishing at the Outer Banks. Surviving are John’s loving wife, Delma “Fern” Cloyd Hopkins of Roanoke, VA; son, Ray Hopkins and wife Stephanie of Roanoke, VA; 2 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 9 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Annette Ware of Danville, VA; brother, Fred E Hopkins of Youngsville, NC.
