Obituary For Doris "Jean" Adkins July 23, 1940 - May 29, 2022 Doris Jean Adkins, 81, of Eden, passed away May 29th at Hospice of Rockingham County (Gibson House). A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Overlook Cemetery, 865 Bryant Street, Eden, NC.  A gathering and fellowship will follow immediately after the service at The Morehead - Fair House, 420 Boone Road, Eden, NC next to Fair Funeral Home. Doris was born July 23, 1940 to the late Otis Dewey Adkins and Mary Oakley Adkins in Rockingham County.  She was a 1958 graduate of Morehead High School.  Doris was an avid Bluegrass fan, an antiquer and a photographer.  She worked as a chief x-ray technician for 39 years at Annie Penn Hospital. Doris also attended the Danville Nursing School in Danville, VA. Left to cherish her memory is her aunt, Betty Jean Oakley; cousin, Cynthia Oakley - Finella (John) and her beloved dog, Sugar all of Statesboro, GA. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Dewey Adkins.
