August 27, 1938 - July 24, 2022

Beatrice “Bea” Watkins Kallam, 83, of Eden passed Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

A graveside service will be held 11am Friday, July 29, 2022 at Overlook Cemetery in Eden. A visitation will be held 5-7pm Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.
Bea was born August 27, 1938 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Drew Watkins and Mary Dodson Watkins. She was a faithful wife and loving mother to three boys. She graduated from Stoneville High School, class of 1956. She was of Baptist Faith. Bea was a very strong woman. She did for others before doing for herself. Her sister, Ruth, took care of her as a baby, until she was able to do for herself. Bea loved going to see her sister, Ruth, at North Pointe.

After having her children, Bea became a stay-at-home mom, in which she embraced wholeheartedly. Her husband, her boys, and her house were everything to her. She kept her grandchildren when they were babies and talked about that often.

Life has always been a challenge for her, but she always overcame whatever it was. After losing her son, John, then husband, Calvin, and recently her son, David, she had to keep going daily, trying to stay healthy. She knew her limits.

She loved her little buddy, Dixie, Miss Dixie as she always called her, keeping her on the weekends was the highlight of her life. She enjoyed her so much.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Russell Kallam and wife Tammie of Stoneville, NC; sister, Ruth Wilson of Madison, NC; grandchildren, John Kallam, Lee Kallam and wife Michelle, Len Kallam, Daniel Kallam, Jacob Kallam, Harley Kallam, Jerry Wayne Alford, Lindsey Curry, Bryanna Curry; numerous great-grandchildren; grand dogs, Dixie and Rosy; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Beatrice is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin D. Kallam; sons, David Kallam, John Kallam; brothers, Rufus Watkins, Frank Watkins; sisters, Janice Ellington, Estell Wooten, Laverne Largen.
