Obituary For Ruby Grant Harden
December 7, 1934 - July 28, 2022


Ruby Grant Harden, 87, of Eden passed Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her home.

A funeral service will be held 11am, Monday, August 1, 2022, at Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1608 E Delaware Ave, Eden, NC 27288, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Eden. A visitation will be held 6pm-8pm, Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden, NC. The family will receive friends at other times at her home, 314 The Boulevard, Eden, NC 27288.

Ruby was born December 7, 1934, in Dry Fork, VA, to the late George W. Grant and Maggie Louise Meadows Grant. She worked as a spinner for the majority of her years at Spray Cotton Mills until her retirement after more than 25 years in the industry. Ruby had a love for children. She worked as a Sunday school teacher in the nursery at Eden First Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. Since then, Ruby attended Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church where she enjoyed love and fellowship. She enjoyed sewing and puzzles, and loved to work in her flower gardens. Ruby loved her fur-babies, Midnight and Little Bit. One of her favorite things was cooking big, family meals. Ruby loved spending time with her family and this brought her the greatest joy.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Alice Shelton of Eden, NC; Nancy Robertson (Gerald) of Martinsville, VA; Wanda Fitzgerald (Stacey) of Stoneville, NC; grandchildren, Roxanne Moxley, Brittany Robertson, Matthew Porter, Austin Porter, Breanna Robertson, Rylon Robertson, Baylon Robertson; great-grandchildren, Addyson Routh, Maverick Porter; brother, Herman Grant (Earlene) of Danville, VA; sisters, Hazel Morris of Blairs, VA, Margaret Gupton of Dry Fork, VA; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also known as “Granny Ruby” to so many others.

In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her husband Elbridge “Red” Harden; brothers, Posey Grant, Fred Grant.
