Obituary For Mary Ruth Nelson Underwood June 29, 1930 - August 8, 2022 Mary “Ruth” Underwood, 92, of Eden, passed Monday, August 8, 2022 at her home. A funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at DanView Cemetery in Eden. A visitation will be held 5-7pm Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Fair Funeral Home. Ruth was born June 29, 1930 in Rockingham County, North Carolina, to the late James Henry Nelson and Myrtle Stratton Nelson. Ruth was a member of Fieldcrest Road Church of God in Eden. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, assisted with Children’s Church, and was secretary of Women’s Discipleship. Ruth was a homemaker, enjoying her life with her family.  She enjoyed spending time outdoors, working in her garden, and raking and mowing at the farm. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Gwen Pruitt (Tommy) of Eden, Vicki Rogers (Terry) of Eden, Robin Light of Eden; grandchildren, Brian Pruitt (Missy), Anthony Mull (Amanda), Josh Light (Amanda), Stacey Joseph (Trent), Jennifer Avesing; great-grandchildren, Logan Pruitt, Kayla Pruitt, Colin Haynes, Mason Haynes, Clay Light, Paige Joseph, Graham Light; brother, Melvin Nelson of Winston-Salem; sister and best friend, Jane Lillard of Eden.
