Obituary For Billy Cecil Smith, Sr. April 14, 1932 - November 21, 2022 Billy Cecil Smith, Sr., 90, of Eden, NC, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at UNC Rockingham Health Care in Eden. A graveside service will be held 2pm Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Wright Family Cemetery, 825 Wright Rd, Ridgeway, VA. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service at Wright Family Cemetery, beginning at 1:30pm. Billy was born April 14, 1932, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Ernest Gilmer Smith, Sr. and Beatrice Dent Smith. Billy was an Army Veteran. He worked as a truck driver for Fieldcrest until retiring after 30 years of service. Billy was the oldest charter member of Osborne Baptist Church. He was an Usher at Osborne, and also served as a bus driver for the church. Billy worked all his younger life to take care of his family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Barbara Wright Smith; children, Billy Cecil Smith, Jr. of Ridgeway, VA, Danny Lee Smith of Eden, NC, Diane Shockley of Ridgeway, VA; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Ernest Smith, Jr. of Eden, NC, Betty Brown of Eden, NC, Donald Smith of Clover, VA. In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Hallie Smith, Lonnie Smith, Rae Newton, Gay Newton, Ida Belle Hylton, Phillip Smith, Barbara Ann Woodard, David Smith.
