Obituary For Dewey Estell Griffith, Jr.
May 20, 1936 - December 2, 2022


Dewey Estell Griffith, Jr, 86, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at his home in Eden, NC.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 5th at Osborne Baptist Church at 3PM. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.  Full Military Honors will follow the service on the front lawn of Osborne Baptist Church.

Dewey was born May 20, 1936 to the late Dewey Estell Griffith, Sr. and Ruby Pearl Gee Griffith in Portsmouth, OH.  He graduated from Minford High School in 1954. Dewey enlisted in the Air Force July 17, 1957 and was honorably discharged July 14, 1961, from Laughlin Air Force Base, in TX.  After discharge from the Air Force, Dewey went to college and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University in 1970.  He received his Th.M Degree in 1975 at Dallas Theological Seminary.  He served as President of Tr-State Bible College in South Point, OH.  Dewey spent his life serving the Lord in ministry for many years.  He pastored three churches in PA, OH and NC.  He was an Associate Pastor at Osborne Baptist Church in Eden, NC for twenty-five years.  Everyone he ministered to loved him.

His family that remains will cherish his memories forever.  They are his daughter’s, Rhonda Lee Miller (Cody) of Boyton Beach, FL and Robin Gail Yarber of Eden, NC, two sons; Steven Guy Griffith (Jenny) of Eden and James Daniel Griffith (Jeanette) of Eastvale, CA; brother, Clinton Lee Griffith of Lexington, KY; two sisters, Marian Elizabeth Boorman of Sciotoville, OH and Jeanetta Gee Brown of Wheelersburg, OH; six grandchildren, Stacy Donahoe, Christopher Donahoe, Joshua Yarber, Sarah Heston, Stephen Griffith, and Chloe Griffith, seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Deborah Griffith of Lexington, KY and brother-in-law, Dave Brown of Wheelersburg, OH. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Jamison Griffith and his parents.
