Obituary For Robert Lee Hutson
August 9, 1933 - March 6, 2023


Robert Lee Hutson, 89, of Ruffin, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Draper Christian Church in Eden. Burial will follow at Dan View Cemetery. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service, from 2-3pm, at Draper Christian Church. Friday and Saturday, family and friends are welcome to visit at the home of Jack and Betty Lipford.

Robert was born August 9, 1933, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late John Henry Hutson and Cora Jane Dill Hutson. He was a graduate of Draper High School, class of 1951. He was a member of Draper Christian Church. Robert served his country in the US Army following graduation.

Robert and Teresa served Draper Christian Church with all their love, always had helping hands.

Robert was an avid golfer with buddies from Dupont. He was an outdoorsman, fishing, hunting, gardening, and traveling. He was an excellent wood craftsman, always building something for others. Robert loved to cook, especially banana puddings, and would decorate them for the occasion. He made the best pinto beans and cornbread, which was always a favorite among family and friends. Robert always had a smile on his face, ready to help whatever the occasion may be.

Surviving are his son, Robert “Loren” Hutson (Carol) of Jarrett, VA; sister, Betty Lipford (Jack) of Ruffin, NC; nephews, Johnny Hutson, Cody Trestrail; nieces, Connie Crane (Michael), Debra Barham; God-daughter, Jessica Lipford-Pruitt; great nephews, Jack Lipford, II (Lisa), Jason Lipford (Susan); along with other numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own children; great nieces, Tina Keels, Elizabeth Hurd (Robert), Lana Shivley (Tim).

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Teresa; a brother, Henry Hutson; sisters, Edna Hutson Mayes, Marie Gauldin; nephew, Richard Davis; nieces, Sheila Powell and Judy McCrickard.

Robert was blessed with day and night care with these ladies; Angie, Patricia, Megan, Jessica, Brenda, Sandra, Staci, Deb, Crystal. Robert loved these ladies like family. One of the ladies that loved Robert was Sheila Powell, his niece who was called to Heaven suddenly. All these ladies treated Robert with the best of care. They would take him out to eat and some days just take him riding in the neighborhood or wherever he wanted to go. For this, Betty would like to thank you all for the love you shared with her brother, Robert.
