Obituary For Judith Ann Gilbert Jeffries
February 28, 1934 - May 16, 2023

Ann Gilbert Jeffries passed away May 16, 2023 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Ann’s life can be summed up in one word: faithful. She was born on February 28, 1934 to the late Samuel and Pernelle M. Gilbert, and she lived her whole life in Draper, NC, now called Eden. After graduating from Draper High School in 1952, she married Lewis H. Jeffries in 1954, with whom she enjoyed 69 years of marriage and had three children and five grandchildren.

Ann spent her life in banking until she retired in 1996, working at Leaksville Bank and Trust, Carolina Bank of Commerce, NCNB, NationsBank (which is now Bank of America), and briefly First National Bank, all of which were in downtown Draper. She took the details of the 1994 bank robbery to her grave, as she promised she would. She was an active member of Immanuel Friends Church, serving as treasurer, Sunday school teacher, assistant pianist, choir member, and Women’s Global Ministry committee member. Above all else, Ann deeply loved the Lord and was a true prayer warrior.

Ann is survived by her children Jimmy Jeffries (Tammy) of Eden, NC; Sandra Schultz (Mike) of Greensboro, NC; and Gilbert Jeffries (Maureen) of Glen Rock, NJ; grandchildren Sarah Ann Schultz, Tyler Gainey (Brian), Andrew Schultz, Spencer Jeffries, and Nathaniel Jeffries; sister Mary Lewis (Herbert); lifelong friend Barbara Tate; and special niece Penny Hopkins, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Ann was exceedingly proud of her children and grandchildren and made sure to tell them often how much she loved them. In the latter years of her life, Ann was well cared for by many caregivers and Hospice of Rockingham County.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Maybird Gilbert, Bernice Young, Francis Jarrett, Sammy Gilbert, Charles Gilbert, Jean Gilbert, and Carol Hopkins.

Her funeral will be held at Immanuel Friends Church, May 18th at 1:00 PM with the visitation one hour prior. The burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In honor of her joyful and colorful spirt, we ask that funeral attendees wear bright colors.

Memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel Friends Church (502 S. Fieldcrest Road, Eden, NC 27288), Osborne Baptist Church (326 E. Stadium Drive, Eden, NC 27288) and Hospice of Rockingham County (P.O. Box 281 Wentworth, NC 27375).
