Obituary For Lillie Dixon Patterson
August 31, 1927 - May 25, 2023

Ms Lillie Dixon (Turner) Patterson went home to Her beloved Jesus peacefully on May 25th 2023.

Ms Lillie was born to the late Walter and Maggie Dixon on August 31st 1927. "Which just so happened to be her Father's birthday as she would proudly proclaim".

She was a native of Rockingham County spending most of her life in Eden as a homemaker, then moving to Ruffin where she helped care for her grandchildren on the family farm. Her later years were spent at Turner Family Care and Pine Forrest Assisted Living, both where she was well loved. Ms Lillie was not a worldly woman, she found much joy in the "old ways". You could often find her in the kitchen baking up her famous poundcake and "grannie biscuits," out foraging in nature or teaching someone a "new to them skill." Ms Lillie did not want for much; she just needed a little bit of flour, some crisco, a hot cup of coffee and Jesus, and she was set for the day. She always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart, even on the worst of days. You see Ms Lillie truly believed in fighting her battles in prayer, she lived her life in such a humble way that she never had a cross word to say. She also never met a stranger or a baby she was not willing to hold. Though she lived a rather "simple life" she had a complex heart, an understanding of people that truly reflected what a Christian was meant to be. She loved all of God's people and creation in such a way that is rare to find in today's world. She believed every person was made in the Lord's image and deserved love and respect.

Ms Lillie is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Isaac, Stanley, Pattie, Martha and Mary. First husband and father to her children J. Homer Turner, 2 infant sons. Second husband Aaron H. Patterson, son in law Fred L. Overby, "adopted mama" Ms Myrtle Stanley and beloved daughter Patricia Turner Overby.

She is survived by her "precious" grandchildren Melissa O. Adams, (husband Wayne), Timothy D. Overby, Jessica O. Kutlik, (husband Joseph). Great grandchildren Alyssa, Timmy, Ty, Cody, Ethan, Josie and Zaelynn. Nieces/Nephews: Gloria Gauldin, Shirley Morris, Kathy Wyatt, Janet Jones, William Sands and Herman Sands. Long time roommate and friend, Ms Wanda Cole and her Pine Forrest Family.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday the 31st of May at Woodlawn Cemetery in Eden at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Reidsville Soup Kitchen in Lillie's honor so she can feed people one more time.

The Family would like to extend their gratitude to Pine Forrest for their love and care for Ms Lillie over the years and give special recognition to Ms Trudy and Ms Kim, especially after the death of her daughter who treasured her mother deeply.

While we are deeply saddened by our loss, we can rejoice now that she has heard those precious words, "Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant," after such a long, blessed, and humble life. She is now reunited with so many that have been lost in her 95 years.
