Genevieve Shelton Cox, 91, of Eden passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Brian Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Internment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2pm, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 135 Malibu St, Eden.

Genevieve (Gen) was born on December 31, 1930, to the late Robert Lester Shelton and Thelma Hall Shelton.  After graduating from high school, Gen worked in the lab for Fieldcrest Mills until deciding to become a stay-at-home mom.  Being a homemaker was her passion and she loved cooking for and taking care of her family.  She was a doting grandmother throughout her life as she considered her grandchildren a bright spot in her life.  In addition, she was active in her church as long as she was physically able.

Gen is survived by her daughter, Genny Ziglar (Vann); four grandchildren, Matthew Cox (Christina), Denise Cox, Nathan Ziglar, and Stephen Ziglar (Kristine); four great-grandchildren, Michael Bullins, Marvin Bullins, Matthew Cox, Jr., and Izabelle Marks.

Along with her parents, Gen was preceded in death by her husband, Stafford Opry Cox; son, Malcolm Stafford Cox; brother, Royce Honeycutt; and sister, Lois Shelton Gillie.

The family of Genevieve Cox would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Barbara Carter and Megan Blankenship for the wonderful, loving care they provided both Genevieve and Stafford during the past 2 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Osborne Baptist Church in Eden.
