George Winslow Hildreth, 80, passed away Friday November 25, 2022, following a five-year battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends at Fair Funeral Home in Eden, NC Friday December 2nd from 4-6 PM. A Service to Celebrate his life will be held at Cedar Hill United Methodist Church in Cedar Hill, NC on Saturday December 3rd at 2 PM. Burial will be at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or Cedar Hill or Red Hill Church.
George was born in Wadesboro, NC on September 1, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Houston Hildreth and Lina Springer Hildreth, and son Troy Randall Hildreth. Surviving are his former wife and longtime companion Joyce Randall Hildreth Spear; his two sisters Mary Hildreth Brammer (Melvin) of Charlotte, NC & Cynthia Hildreth Little of Wadesboro, NC; his children Adrienne Leigh Hildreth of Sanford, NC, Steven Ross Hildreth (Celina) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Mary Catherine Hildreth (Ivan Gutierrez) of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren Carson Garrett Walters, Coleman Riley Walters, & Ellie Parker Hildreth. 
George grew up in the Cedar Hill community near Ansonville, NC.
He graduated from NC State with a degree in Textile Technology and began his career in 1970 with Karastan Rug Mill in Eden, NC in research and development. He later worked with Shaw Industries in Dalton, GA. where he introduced and created the rug division. With retirement, he returned to Eden, NC in 2010. 
He was a man of many talents with the ability to fix almost anything. He was an excellent woodworker, who at one time built his own home. He enjoyed restoring sports cars, riding motorcycles and bicycles, boating, camping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time at his country home and loved the country life and everything outdoors. In his retirement he liked visiting and "chewing the fat" with his many neighborhood friends. He especially loved his children and grandchildren and shared his many interests and talents with them.

George was more like a big brother than a brother-in-law.   He introduced me to so many things, like water skiing, camping and grilling steaks.   George inherited his father's knack for all things mechanical and his mother's remarkable gift of memory.   The shared good times will be cherished memories forever.
