Elmer “Doug” Douglas Lester age 74 of Eden, NC passed away on Tuesday January 10, 2023 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, January 13th, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1 – 2 pm. Family meeting at other times at the home of Leslie Ramey, 181 Shannon Court, Ridgeway, VA. 

Doug was born May 2, 1948 in Leaksville, NC to the late Elmer J. Lester and Doris Nance Lester.  Doug was a member of the Temple of Faith Church in Ridgeway, Va. He was a self-employed construction worker. Doug enjoyed playing golf, playing bingo, working puzzles and watching wrestling when it was on. 

He is survived by daughters, Leslie Ramey (Rick) of Ridgeway, Va., Angie Morton and Amy Garland (James) of Eden, Jackie Manuel (Daniel) of Madison and April Frazee (Jeff) of Mayodan; step-son, Jimmy Perez of Stoneville, NC ; 10 grandchildren, Megan Gregory, Paige Rea, Cody Martin, Justin Garland, Dustin Morton, Devin Morton, Amber Lester, Tabiyis Graham, Aiden Manuel and Skyler Perez; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Rigney, Jean Robertson and sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Lester all of Eden, Sandra Harris of Stoneville; brother, Paul Lester of Eden; several nieces and nephews which he held close to his heart.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Lester.

Doug was a long time friend. Charles and Doug grew up together I met him when I was 15 threw Charles. He was a good Christian man. I can remember he came to mow when Charles was in Iraq he just wanted to help. We had spent all these years together in church and he was always the same. He loved his family dearly and prayed for all of them. I will miss you Doug. You and Charles behave we will see each other again. Love Tammi

So sorry, Doug did a lot of remodeling of our home with Bobby at times, he always did good work and was a extremely nice guy, we all will miss him. Prayers for all of the family.
