Barbara Jean Evans Pruitt, 89, of Eden passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at UNC Health Rockingham in Eden.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 11am-12pm, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.

Barbara was born January 3, 1934, to the late Stonewall Jackson Evans and Georgie Minter Evans. She was a member of Peoples Church of the Living God in Bassett, VA. Barbara was a homemaker, enjoying her time with her family and caring for them.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Douglas Pruitt (Cynthia), Dennis Pruitt (Judy), Linda Smith (Timothy), Dwayne Pruitt (Patricia); grandchildren, Chris Pruitt, Angel Meeks, Brian Pruitt, Justin Smith, Stephanie Bowling, Joseph Pruitt, Zachery Pruitt, Elizabeth Martin; great-grandchildren, Preston Martin, Addison Meeks, Olivia Meeks, Autumn Bowling, Benjamin Bowling, Noah Bowling, Brandt Pruitt, Ryan Pruitt, Asher Martin, Aubrey Martin, Norah Smith; sister, Grace Evans McGuire.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Pruitt; siblings, Mack Evans, Calvin Evans, Olphus Evans, Almeria Evans Nichols, Ellen Evans Blackwell; great-grandson, Josh Pruitt.

I loved "Mrs Pruitt ". I truly think she loved me. She was my moms roommate. We all took to that beautiful soul immediately. Her family was amazing to my mom& I hope we made a difference to her precious soul for the short time we knew her we feel in love quickly! My heart goes out to all of y'all & thanks so much for everything you did for my mom. I'm going to miss your mom & y'all! 

She was such a precious lady.  My husband and I grew to love her in the very short time we had with her.  My mother in law Becky was her room mate and they thought a lot of each other. Two Christian women talking and caring for each other....rest in heaven Mrs Pruitt...love you
