Mary Catherine Johnson Watson, 93, of Reidsville passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 at her home.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11am Friday, September 8, 2023, at Cypress Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cameron, NC.

Mary was born March 14, 1930, to the late Cameron H. Johnson and Sarah Stewart Johnson. She was a member of Cypress Presbyterian Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Mary volunteered with the Morehead High School Boosters Club and had served as their president. She was a life-long Tarheel Fan. Mary loved her family and her dogs.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, David “Neill” Watson (Kay), Emory “Mitch” Watson (Jane), Kevin Lee Watson (Alice), James “Jim” Watson (Patti); grandchildren, Jordan Watson (Jessica), Chelsey Rudd (Matt), Hayden Watson (Ashley), Hillary Watson, David Watson (Katie), Meredith Watson (Nate), Corbin Watson; great-grandchildren, Easton, Emmett, Ella, Emery, Allie, Moira Jane; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband, Emory Milner Watson.

We are so saddened to hear of Mary Catherine's passing. We loved her and Emory so much. We even took them a little black dog when they were living in the mountains. Such a sweet couple. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at the time.

I wish I could be with you today at her funeral service. Be assured of my prayers for your mom. She had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. I still remember being overwhelmed by the stack of pancakes she served me on a visit. It was just a normal serving for her boys! Your cousin, Teresa

So sorry to hear of Aunt Mary's passing. She was certainly an original. She was always so kind and gracious to me. Heck of a sense of humor, too. But she also knew when someone needed a barb set in them. A woman of many facets. Sad to lose her, but what a long life. My day is a little paler today...

Sorry for your loss to the Watson Family. Remember having some great times at your house in Eden. (Except for that time when 1 of your friends ran me over with a dirt bike). Remember more vividly the times spent together in Woolwine. You guys and Milner built one of the best cabins I have ever seen. With the upstairs bedrooms, the fire pit out in front of the huge porch. Great times with plenty of fishing mixed in. It is truly sad  that Mary Catherine has passed away. I can't help but to smile when I reflect on the times we spent together. My condolences to the family.
