Brenda Purdy Hearne, 80, of Stoneville passed away peacefully on September 7th.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1pm-3pm on Saturday, September 16th, 2023, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.

Brenda is predeceased by her parents, Cosby and Mary Purdy; her sister, Peggy Ray; and niece, Tammy Jo Wade.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Hearne; her son, Thomas Scott (Tiffany); stepson, John Hearne; her siblings, Johnny Purdy (Polly), Stanley Purdy (Brenda), and Jeff Purdy (Sandy); as well as her grandsons and many friends.

Brenda loved the beach and her grandchildren more than anything. She loved golf cart rides at night, listening to the ocean, and laughing with friends. Brenda made friends easily wherever she went, and they became life-long friends. Brenda worked for Miller Brewing Company before retiring and worked with the Turtle Rescue Group in N. Myrtle Beach.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

Hello, this is Thomas, Brenda's son.  I would like to thank everyone for your condolences.  I just want to remind everyone that this is a floating memorial. There will be no formal service, please come and go as you feel led.  I know that mom would appreciate your presence and I look forward to seeing you.  

Sorry to learn of her passing! May God bless the family during this time. We were neighbors the way the crow  flies.

I was so sorry to learn about Brenda. We were close friends in Junior High. I'll never forget out pajama party at her house and our "nighttime event," which involved a little paint.

And she was my favorite person to spend time with at the first High School reunion I ever attended. I loved Brenda's humanity and her being so open and honest at the reunion, when we both told about our personal lives.

I'll keep my great memories of Brenda.

So sorry for your loss  Brenda will be missed. She had such a captivating personality. Everyone who knew her loved her. 

So glad I got to meet Brenda and become friends with her  these last 2 years. She taught me alot and there were lots of laughs. She was the most kindest and sincere person. She will be greatly missed. Praying for Jack and the entire family during this time. Will forever miss her famous baking and that big smile she had. The stories she would tell of all of her and Jack's travels and the love she had for her two grandsons were in every conversation. Rest easy Brenda on God's golden shores🏖

I started work at Miller Brewing the same day Brenda did.  We shared 25 years of work life in which Brenda was conscientious, reliable, and FUN!  The world needs more just like her.  My heartfelt condolences to Jack and the rest of her family but my love, respect, and prayers follow Brenda as she steps into her forever life.  Godspeed to a joyful soul!  

I am so sad to hear of Brenda's passing.  She was a close friend in high school and  after.  We had many fun times together.  She was always so happy and had a beautiful smile for everyone.  My sympathy to the family and friends.

I was so shocked to hear of Brenda's passing.  It has been some time since I had seen her but I always had such fond memories of working with her at Miller, being at parties with her, and hearing her laughter at work.  May God bless and keep the family during this sad time but always remember all of you will see her again.

May God wrap His arms around this family and give you peace in this time. Prayers for the family.
