William David Dallas “Papa Dave” age 78 passed away on Sunday September 17th 2023 at UNC Rockingham Rehab and Nursing Center in Eden, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation to be held one hour prior, from 1 – 2 pm. Military honors will follow on the front lawn of Fair Funeral Home by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard.
Papa Dave was born September 29, 1944 to the late J. William and Evelyn Dallas. He was a graduate of Wentworth High School in 1962. He attended Leaksville Moravian Church. Papa Dave joined the US Air Force and served eight years with two tours in Vietnam and the island of Guam as a Mechanic Supervisor on C-130 Aircraft. Upon discharge from the US Air Force, he enrolled in Piedmont Aerospace Institute. After graduation he decided to settle back home in Eden with family and friends. He worked through his lifetime for Vanier Graphics, Miller Brewing and City of Eden.
Through the years, he was blessed with wonderful family, cherished friendships and enjoyed many valuable lifetime experiences playing golf, traveling to many beautiful locations with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Amelia Whitley Dallas; son, Keith Dallas and wife, Michelle Sherwood Dallas; and grandsons, Will and Steven Dallas.
He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his beautiful daughter, Angela Dallas; in-laws, John and Inza Whitley; brother, John Dallas; and sister, Mary Ann Howard; brother-in-law, Currie Whitley.
Memorial donations, may be made to the Leaksville Moravian Church, Hospice of Rockingham County, or the UNC Rockingham Nursing Center.
