Joyce Ann Mayes Wade, 78, of Eden, NC, passed on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 at her home.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 at 2pm at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with burial to follow at Danview Cemetery. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the service on January 18th and other times at Kathy’s home, 172 Longwood Dr, Eden, NC 27288.

Joyce was born February 21st, 1943, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Ralph D Mayes and Margaret Louise Jones Mayes. She was a member of Genesis Church in Eden. Joyce worked as a beautician for more than 50 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathy Cox (Toby) of Eden; granddaughters, Tabitha Cox and Joanna Cox, both of Eden; great-granddaughter, Kelly Rae; cousins, Sabrina Chambers and Brandy Mullis. Joyce is also survived by many loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her daughter, Anna Jo Wade Lane.

Joyce, Linda Kennon and I (Carol Marlowe) were the best of buddies during our elementary school days and on. I often visited in the Mayes and Kennon homes where I was welcomed and treated like visition royalty. I remember how Joyce's mother could cook and loved having a meal with them. I'm sad to hear of Joyce's passing. Her sweet memory will be with me and all of us who knew her. Condolences to her family and close friends. May Joyce Rest in Peace in the arms of Jesus.

I'm so hurt to hear about my friend Joyce. I met her 22yrs ago. I use to work with her at VF Playwear in Reidsville Nc. She worked beside me some days her hands would hurt so I would do her work and mine. Over the years I would check in on her I think I remember her# (336)635-1035 I'm not sure but anyway my son is 21yrs old and she bought him his first outfit he wore from the hospital. She was a special lady my other co workers got so jealous of our bond they would say that little lady your best friend lol I would say yes. Omg I don't remember her granddaughters names but she talked about them ALL the time she loved them girls. She also told me about loosing her daughter years back and I cried and cried anyway I'm sending my condolences because I'm sure she will be greatly missed😢
